Week 13 blog- Facebook

Ho do you think online life will change the workplace, living situation, and other ares in your life?

The 12 points listed in the article were really really interesting to me. For some reason Facebook has always interested me in many ways. I just think it is so genius. I watched a 60 minute episode on Mark Zimmerman the 26 year old who created Facebook. He stated the site at Harvard when he was only 19 years old. He did it with his friends and now he is literally taking over the web. More people used Facebook last year then people used Google.com That tells you how popular it is getting.

I think that our internet world will change in many ways as time goes on. Things are already changing in ways like you don't even have to leave your house anymore to do anything. You can shop, pay bills, and work all from one place. When I was born computers weren't around like they were today. Only in the past few years has the world of internet and technology changed in very dramatic ways.

To get on topic the article gave 12 points how things are changing. The best point I thought was # 12... Hackers are hero's. This is so true. The word Hacker has always had a negative condensation but in the internet world now its a good thing. It means to create something new. I also like the point "power comes from sharing information not hoarding it." You can defiently tell that this is also true.

In conclusion I would have to say that the internet is going to change everyones life in the future... Little kids now have cell phones and use computers all day long. Soon this world will completely be on the web. Literally!

Week 5- Blog- Cell art & Lit (actually week 5)

I think that the art world has gone so far when it comes to the use of technology. Like really if you think about it you can create some of the best pictures and art right from your own computer, phone or other device. I really enjoyed using some of the manipulation tools though out this semester. The Cloud really interested me and the digital world does too.

The Cloud helped me create an illusion of what my life really is like. It helped me realize what my goals are and what I need to do to meet them. Before this class started I had no idea how much influence the world of technology has on art. We do not make it the way we used to... I am talking beyond just pencil or painting drawing the digital world has made life easier for advertising, marketing, and getting the word out to the world.

I love the way the News uses different tools in order to keep your attention. There was this great commercial one time that just had things jumping out on the screen and there was no way you didn't get the message. It was an advertising for a windshield company. They also had the best audio and visuals to really keep you into the message they wanted to get across. I couldn't keep my eyes off!

The blog bellow should read.... Week 8 Blog.. not week 5

Week 8 blog not week 5

Week 5- Blog- Cell art & lit.. Hans Rosling

Hans Rosling does a wonderful job using technology in order to get in message across. He used many different techniques that really kept me focused and interested throughout his presentation. He used technology to enrich and enlighten his content that he was trying to deliver by being very active and talking a lot. He used very clear diagrams and almost acted like a comedian during his presentation.

The way you can tell that he does such a good job is from the reaction of his audience people are laughing and totally into what he is talking about. His key elements for his technique would be his wide spread ways of acting being calm then jumping up and down anything to keep the eyes on the speaker I guess. He used great animations as well. Multimedia really made his PowerPoint come alive.

After watching this presentation I can take away that it is important not to have to much information on each page. He only has diagrams to keep people focused while he is giving a very good presentation and kind of talking about the subject not reading off a note card. He uses the PowerPoint as his note card and feeds off of what each slide shows.

Week 4 blog

Creative Commons is great because it is founded in the belief that being able to share knowledge works to the advantage of the common good, creating an open atmosphere of sharing. It is a superb alternative to copyrights because it lets owners of copyrights release some of their rights while maintaining other rights, in the name of sharing intellectual information.

Sharing is something that I think everyone should practice doing more. Just like these examples in the articles we had to read. Sharing is a huge part of life and sometimes as Americans we don't do that good of a job!

I find this an excellent solution because there is no longer the "I own it, so the public can't have it" problem.

Week 11 - Talk about podcasting

Pod casting was really fun and interesting for me. I really enjoyed playing around with pod casting. I think it is super cool that you can listen o anything you want like sports channels, news, weather, and much much more right over your Ipod or listening device. I never really knew what pod casting was until now! My Ipod has always had a section under the scroll menu for listening to pod casts and I had no idea what this was for. Now I regularly download new types of pod casts on news, sports, and mainly informational things.

The same day that I started doing my pod casting assignments both of my parents were also discovering it for the first time. They started influencing me on the assignment and before the night was over everyone in the house was an expert on pod casting. Very interesting and helpful device. I plan on listening to pod casts for a very long time!

Week 12 Blog!

Today with the abundance of opportunities available online, it is easier to reach people who want something besides what mainstream has to offer, making it easier as an entrepreneur to reach a target audience. I intend to own my own business someday, and I am confident that with the right idea, I will, thanks to modern online marketing not ever have to go searing for population who wants to buy my product, because consumers will be using the Internet to find my product instead. This is what makes a world of difference because of today's marketing technology. There is a market of people out there looking for exactly what we have to sell, so we no longer have to carter to the mainstream.

Explore more podcasts, look up podcasts in areas of interest to you right there in iTunes. The next folder gives you more info about finding podcasts in iTunes.

Your choice, either write about podcasting in general, vlog about podcasting, or make a podcastfor your blog post this week. Post your link to your podcast in your blog if that is your choice, or embed your vlog, or write your post, again this is your choice. Due by Friday, midnight. Ilya's week 7 blog.. Kindle me a story mom

There is, in my opinion, no reason for a lawuite here. The kindle's text to speech feature cannot compare to a real person rading a bok aloud, therefor the kindle is not copying anything.

I don't believe that anyone would actually buy a kindle just to listen to books on tape becuase the synchronized voice is not easy to listen to. Also, it is perfectly okay to use the text to speech devices for the visually impaired, so I don't believe that a law suite against Kindle can be won.

Week 6 Blog (late)

The question is:

Blogging this week continues on copyright law. This is an ongoing issue which will continue to be an important current issue for web and technical artists. The story this week is the Obama poster created by street artist Shepard Fairey. Fairey used an AP photo for the basic image of Obama. AP says it is copyright infringement, Fairey says he changed it enough for "fair use" to apply.

Do some research, what do others think. Blog this week on what you think about this issue. Is there a way Creative Commons could have been used here and saved a whole lot of pain and lawyers' fees? Comment on at least one classmate's post, tell me whose in your check-in...

While it is possible to see both sides of this issue, I definitely think that it could have been resolved by the use of Creative Commons, which promotes sharing and encourages collaboration of artist's works. Even though it is obvious that Shepard Fairey used the AP photo of Obama to create his famous poster, fair use does allow exceptions to the copyright law, including the exception based on how the original was affected by the new product. I don't think that Fairey's poster did anything to adversely affect the original photo, but at the same time, since AP did have a copyright on the photo, Fairey should have at least credited them for it.

Week 2 blog

Blog this week about your presence in The Cloud. Do you play games online, save photos at Flickr, IM, have a social networking site, email, videochat, use online tools like Open Office, etc? Talk about "your cloud" and what it entails. What was your Web 2.0 experience 5 years ago? Can you see where you may be heading in the future?

Five years ago my "cloud" wasn't the way it is today. Today my cloud is full of text messages, iming, emailing, phone calls, Skype, video chating, and of course blogging. I use all sorts of online and Microsoft applications including office, excel, and access. It is crazy to think about how we survived 5 years ago without everything we have today. Especially when you think of something like a cell phone, last week my cell phone broke and I felt like I was lost!

I couldn't do anything or I couldn't contact anyone, it is sad to think about how we lost connection with the world we once knew as simple. I can totally see where this is all heading in the future. I really do think it will be like all the latest sci fi movies. I think we will be living in such a electronic world that we wont have to remember anything. We wont have to remember phone numbers, directions, emails, or any information at all. Everything we will once need will come in a one handed device. I mean for instance like Iphones.... have you ever used one of those things? There is more applications and things to do on it than a computer!

In the end I think everything will be fine, the only thing that scares me is whats if this "main" operating system as Ted says might crash one day. The thought is scary!

5000 days of the internet review

I found it really interesting on how BIG the internet is. It is crazy how much work we do through the internet. It is almost unimaginable. There are more than 2 million emails that are sent every second. This was a crazy number to me, it is also wild to think about when Ted said that the internet used 5 % of all electricity used in the world.

I believe that this causes some very large problems for us. We are getting so unattached form the "real world". We have to think about what will be best for us as humans in the future, but its important to think about all pros and cons of this internet world.

Ted says that the numbers are so big on the internet that it is become very meaningless. Does anyone know what he means when he says that?

Ted says that there is over 100 billion clicks a day! 100 billion... I never thought that it would be that much. I think its also so true and so crazy to think that everything we do, spreadsheets, computers, tvs, everything will be part of the web. Everything is connected to the "Machine".

What do you think will be the problems in the future with this internet world?

Ilya's First blog to class!

Ilya's goals for Multimedia Apps and Tools

I am really looking forward to taking this course and putting my computer knowledge to work. What better way to do this than to take an online course in Multimedia Apps and Tools! I hope to gain a lot of knowledge on how to present media to the public. I ama business major and would really liketo learn how "big business" gets the word out about their product and/or services.

Throughout this course each week I will plan on learning all the required online tools such as blogster.com, wikispaces.com, etc... These are the ones we have learned so far. I hope I can take a lot from this class, I have already learned a ton!

As you can see I am little bit computer challenged since this about my 10th time writing this and trying to make my blog live. I hope to get better at using internet course and applications that I can use in my future.
